Hyundai's popular Santa Fe SUV receives premium upgrades, a choice of new hybrid powertrain and more for 2021

Hyundai has unveiled its new 2021 Santa Fe SUV, which should be available this fall, loaded with new features, a turbocharged engine and availability as a hybrid car

The Santa Fe is manufactured at the Hyundai Montgomery plant, along with the Elantra and Sonata. The plant will start manufacturing the Santa Cruz, a compact SUV, next year


New powertrain 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe

The new standard engine in the 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 191 hp and mates to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Also available is a new 2.5-liter turbo engine that generates 277 hp and pairs with an eight-speed wet-clutch dual-clutch transmission


Santa Fe's new hybrid propulsion system combines a 1.6-liter Smartstream gas engine with an electric motor generating 225 horsepower. This system also includes the standard HTRAC all-wheel drive system. Sometime in 2021, the Santa Fe lineup will add an additional hybrid option

The exterior of the new Santa Fe looks significantly different from its predecessor. New items include a 3D widescreen grille, T-shaped LED lightning flags, and a reconfigured silhouette. The car is also getting new alloy wheel designs, electrically folding side mirrors, and pool lights

The 2021 Santa Fe features a new interior, accentuated by a multi-layered dash and a new high console with a lower center stack. Ambient lighting, nappa leather and soft-touch materials are now available as options. In the back, there's an extra half cubic foot of cargo volume

Technical features The new Hyundai Santa Fe

There are a large number of new technical features in 2021 Santa Fe. Remote Intelligent Park Assist and Digital Key are making their way out of the redesigned Sonata Sedan. The infotainment system is based on an available new 8-inch or 10.25-inch display. Santa Fe also comes with a new wireless charging pad, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless connectivity


This model features a new 2.5L turbocharged engine, HTRAC AWD, exclusive 20-inch wheels, and premium grille design. Inside, it's outfitted with quilted Nappa leather, a color screen on the windshield, premium materials and a headliner


The 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe models with gas engines are expected to be introduced by the end of the year, while the hybrid models will arrive sometime during the first quarter of 2021
